In fact... my wife, Annabelle, says I'd live in my garage shop if I could. And she's right, I've been doing this for quite some time now and honestly I still get a big kick out of turning simple objects into useful art. I haven't grown tired of that warm-and-fuzzy feeling inside every time someone tells me how much they enjoy my work.
At first I started out sharing my creations with family and friends and that led to their friends wanting a piece of my handy work, and their friends, and so on down the line. It didn't take long for us to put two and two together and begin offering my pencils, pens, bowls, wine stoppers, and other miscellaneous products to the public.
I feel truly blessed because I've been able to work with some of the most exotic woods and materials. Stuff I'd never even heard of until I started poking around into the world of turning. Things like African Cocobolo, Padauk, and Ebony, as well as some old American favorites... Maple, Cherry,Walnut, and Oak.
But I have to say, my biggest surprises were using acrylic, you know the plastic-like substance, and real deer antlers. By the way, I didn't go and hunt down any deer to make my pens. It turns out they shed 'em once a year and you can just pick the things up right off the ground.
I want to thank you for stopping by and make sure you click on the pen gallery. If there's anything you would like, be sure to contact me, I can be reached by email at...
And one final thing, I'm a proud member of both of these fine organizations...
